My name is Vanessa. I’m a reader, writer, photographer, volunteer, wife and mom, making my way through the uncharted territories of this life with the help of love, faith, books and coffee.

When I am learning something complex and amazing, I’m a bit like this squirrel friend—unafraid and focused on the task at hand.

This writing project started when I started spending daily, purposeful time outside, plus one dog and minus tech. Spending 30-40 minutes a day this way has been a transformative practice in many ways, and has inspired me to “pay attention, be astonished, and tell about it,” just as the poet Mary Oliver suggested.
